Here's a quick step through guide on how to measure 'mounting hardware' for your rear shock.

1) With the shock removed, measure the distance between the shock mounting tabs on your frame, ideally using an electronic vernier. Note, front and rear mounting tabs are often different, so best to measure both and order accordingly.

1a) If you have the shock removed already, you can simply measure the shock hardware using an electronic vernier.

2) Measure the bolt hole diameter. This will be either 6, 8 or 10mm. You can simply measure the bolt diameter, or the hole diameter. Hole diameter pictured below, is for an 8mm hole.

Thankfully, Rockshox and Fox mounting hardware are cross compatible, but there's a few differences that need to be noted before you simply purchase Fox hardware for a Rockshox shock.
- 1) Rockshox shocks will typically come with Rockshox hardware, using a DU bushing that has been pressed into the shock's eyelet. This DU bushing does wear out over time, and is pressed out using a Bushing Removal Tool. It is also required to press this bushing out in order to use Fox hardware.
- 2) Fox uses a press-in (by hand) polymer eyelet bushing (x2 per eyelet) that is used specifically with Fox's 5 or 7piece mounting hardware. Generally, no tools are needed for the installation of Fox hardware, however a standard workbench Vice can be handy.
- 3) Fox and Rockshox eyelets for standard eyeleted shocks are the same specs. They CAN use the same DU bushing (1/2 x 1/2"), or the Fox polymer bushings. Note, Fox polymer bushings have an external 'lip', that whilst the inner bore size makes them compatible with Rocshox hardware, that external lip stops the rockshox hardware spacers from being inserted fully. This means that hardware should NOT be mixed. Ie, if you are using a Rockshox bushing, use Rockshox hardware and for Fox bushings, use Fox hardware.
